Roger Henrique Silva is a 24 years old Brazilian skater, who now resides in Barcelona, Spain for (what else) full-time skateboarding. Recently we were able to talk to him and snag a rad interview. Here is Roger!
What made you move to Barcelona?
Because of skateboarding, it was my dream before it came true.
Are there any spots you like the best there?
I especially like MACBA cause it’s about 10 minutes by skate from my place.
What skate-video gets you pumped up the most?
Many videos like Lakai Fully Flared, Girl Yeah Right!, Chocolate Pretty Sweet, Transworld videos, lots of them! And Simplesmente is a video from Brazil that you guys should check out!!! Good talents from there!!!
In your opinion, what is a perfect skateboarding day?
Perfect for me is just to wake up, talk to my best friend, then call or text some friends, meet them, go to some spots. For me, if everybody can do something there, this is a perfect day! That everyone can have a great session and have fun together. That’s my perfect day!
Have you ever been to another city with as many spots as Barcelona?
Impossible!!
After a good day of skating, what’s your favorite place to eat?
I think it’s lot of fast food but now I think it’s better to invite some friends to come to my place and cook some real food!!!=)
Do you drink/smoke etc. or are you more health conscious?
I did all that things, but now is the time to change. I believe so much in God and I think that he is my best friend, so I try to make my ways better!
Now that you are in Europe, is there any other city in the continent that you would like to try out in terms of skating?
No, just for a short time maybe, trips and stuff like that. But I will stay in Barcelona.
What do you do when you’re hurt/not skating?
I’m always with some friends, going out, chilling, or going to the beach. I was dating some some girl… haha just kidding, really I just chill, surf the net, or watch a movie!!
What are the main diferences between the skate scene in Brazil and the one in Spain?
Brazil has more skaters. There are a lot of places to skate. Also I think that, after football, skateboarding comes in second as far as what kids like to do goes. But Spain is good also, the diference really between them is the fact that Barcelona has spots that are so perfect, and clean!
How do you make your living? What’s your occupation?
I actually just live for skating, it’s my actual profession! I just try to do the best to make my self professional. It’s like a dream! I believe I can do it… hehe
Which skateboarder do you admire the most and why?
Felipe Gustavo – cause he is my homie and I’ve known him since we were young. He’s making history and he is proud to be where he is!
What do you miss most from Brazil?
Congregachurch. They are a skate group that, in the beginning had only four people (myself included), and now they’re like 200 or more! Also my family, the homies, and of course the food!!
